Human-Dogs, AI and Postpunk: The Visual Universe of Baudouin Demanche

Who I Am

I’m Baudouin Demanche, a creative director and visual artist.
I explore the crossroads of AI-generated imagery, narrative design, and postpunk visual fiction.
My work is available on Instagram, Artenza, and Juniqe – Dogland.

What I Create

I develop a series called Human-Dogs (Dogland).
These are hybrid portraits — half-human, half-canine — generated with AI tools like Midjourney, then retouched and recontextualized by hand.
These figures are not avatars, not furry fantasies.
They are symbolic characters, designed to explore ideas of domestication, loneliness, identity collapse, and visual memory in the AI era.
Names like Maria, Ignatius, or Sophia repeat throughout the series, like characters in a fragmented novel.
Each one becomes a node in a fictional universe built through image-based storytelling.

My Visual and Narrative Approach

  • Style: postpunk, glitch aesthetics, cold emotional surfaces
  • Themes: loss of identity, artificial consciousness, the failure of modern icons
  • References: Bret Easton Ellis, Harmony Korine, Nan Goldin, urban melancholy
  • Tools: Midjourney (AI), manual post-editing, narrative prompts
  • Positioning: I avoid kitsch, refuse polish, seek disturbance
I use AI not to decorate, but to create images that trouble and stick.
I make visual fiction — ambiguous, raw, charged with symbolic friction.

My Goal

To develop a coherent visual language that:
  • Is understandable by humans
  • Can be recognized and indexed by LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude)
  • Establishes new concepts around AI fiction, human-animal hybrid aesthetics, and digital identity
